Reading and Leeds

Red Hot Chili Peppers have been unveiled this morning (December 4th) as the first headliners for the 2016 Reading/Leeds Festival.

“I’m thrilled to be able to announce Red Hot Chili Peppers as the first headliner for Reading & Leeds 2016, as a festival exclusive,” organiser Melvin Benn exclaims. “Their incredible live show will be an unforgettable headline performance at the UK’s biggest music festival.

Stereophonics and Faithless will undertake a dual headlining role at next year’s Isle Of Wight Festival.

“I love playing the Isle Of Wight Festival,” Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones says. “I got to steer the boat over last time. Captain of the ship and honked the horn! Only the captain gets to honk the horn. This will be our third time at the festival…I’ll leave my white suit at home this time though!”

Fat White Family will begin a tour of the UK and Ireland at the Birmingham Institute on February 20th, 2016.

The tour is announced ahead of the release of the band’s second studio album ‘Songs For Our Mothers‘ on January 22nd next year, and continues on from Birmingham to Nottingham, Sheffield, Dublin, Belfast, Glasgow, Manchester and Oxford during the rest of February.

‘The Good News’ is the latest single to be taken from Bloc Party‘s forthcoming ‘Hymns‘ album. Have a listen below.

Bloc Party are returning with a fifth studio record on January 29th next year, and with a new line-up too after bassist Justin Harris and drummer Louise Bartle replaced the outgoing Gordon Moakes and Matt Tong.

Florence & The Machine has been confirmed as the latest headliner for next year’s British Summer Time festival at London’s Hyde Park.

Main support for the gig on July 2nd will come from Kendrick Lamar, while Jamie xx and Blood Orange have also been booked.

Last Shadow Puppets

The Last Shadow Puppets have confirmed their return with a trailer for a new album which can be seen below.

The follow-up to 2008’s ‘The Age Of The Understatement‘ is due in the spring of next year as long-time friends Alex Turner and Miles Kane reunite after a mutually successful intervening period with the Arctic Monkeys and on the solo path respectively.

The Libertines and Wolf Alice have both received nominations in all of the main categories for the 2016 NME Awards.

Upon their return with ‘Anthems For Doomed Youth‘ this year, The Libertines are up for Best British Band, Best Album, Best Track and Best Live Band, where they are joined in each category by Wolf Alice.

Editors will return to the US for the first time in six years through a short run of dates in February and early March next year.

Beginning in Boston on February 26th 2016, the band will also take their recent ‘In Dream‘ album on to New York, Washington D.C., San Francisco and Los Angeles. The full details are below.

The brothers Loveless have booked gigs at the Welly Club in Hull on January 22nd and Leicester’s Cookie venue the following night having released the stupendous ‘Undertow‘ album at the start of this year.

Coldplay performed a low-key gig in London last night (December 3rd) to launch their new studio album ‘A Head Full Of Dreams‘.

The show at Hackney Church in London went out live on BBC Radio 1 and the iPlayer and, as well as cuts from the new record, included renditions of hits such as ‘Clocks‘, ‘Paradise‘ and ‘Viva La Vida.
