Next on the list for Damon Albarn is a new Gorillaz album, which he should start work on in September.

Not content with venturing into a solo career, releasing new music with Blur, and continuing his African Express project, Albarn first spoke of his desire to restart Gorillaz during an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald last year.

And when speaking this time to Australia’s ABC 7.30 television programme, he’s given an update on those plans. “I’m starting recording in September for a new Gorillaz record,” he said.

“I’ve just been really, really busy so I haven’t had a chance. I’d love to just get back in to that routine of being at home and coming to the studio five days a week.”

Artist Jamie Hewlett, who began the Gorillaz project with Albarn back in 1998, appeared to confirm his own involvement in the new material thanks to a series of posts he made on Instagram back in February.
