Our recap of the main stories we featured during the past seven days includes new singles from Florence And The Machine and Denzel Curry.

Florence And The Machine have unveiled their new single King with a video directed by Autumn De Wilde.

“As an artist, I never actually thought about my gender that much,” Florence Welch says. “I just got on with it. I was as good as the men and I just went out there and matched them every time.”

“But now, thinking about being a woman in my 30s and the future…I suddenly feel this tearing of my identity and my desires. That to be a performer, but also to want a family might not be as simple for me as it is for my male counterparts.”

Little Simz, Megan Thee Stallion and Burna Boy among the new names added to Wireless 2022 after the announcement of headliners Dave, Cardi B, Sza, Nicki Minaj, Tyler The Creator, A$AP Rocky and J.Cole.

The three-venue event is to take place across two weekends in July; at Crystal Palace Park between the 1st-3rd, and simultaneously at Finsbury Park and the Birmingham NEC between the 8th-10th.

Top-of-the-bill artists Dave and Tyler The Creator were both a part of Live4ever’s Best Of 2021 series after releasing their We’re All Alone In This Together and Call Me If You Get Lost records respectively.

!!! will return with their new album Let It Be Blue on May 6th.

As explained by the band, lead single Storm Around The World has been around for some time, going back to 2019’s Wallop, but finally came together once the contribution from Maria Uzor of Sink Ya Teeth reframed it as a duet:

“Originally an acid workout about parents who leave on tour it became much more than that with her vocal, which is equal parts sing-song and spoken word and who’s lyrics helped add both a familiarity and a mystery to the song.”

Denzel Curry has shared the video for new track Zatoichi, a collaboration with slowthai (pic).

“I like traditional hip hop, I like drum and bass, I like trap, I like poetry, so a lot of that is going to be interwoven in this album including jazz and a lot of genres that I came up on as a kid and just being in my parents’ house,” he says.

“This album is made up of everything that I couldn’t give you on TA13OO or Imperial because I was going through depression anger issues.”

Sigur Ros will be on the road for the first time in nearly five years when they start an American tour at Festival Vaivén in Mexico on April 30th.

During the next month or so the itinerary will also take the band through the US and Canada, including two nights at the Moody Theater in Austin TX.

Another two night run – at New York’s Beacon Theatre – is planned to bring the curtain down on June 17th and 18th.

Liam Gallagher, Ed Sheeran and an acoustic performance from The Who have all been confirmed for the returning Teenage Cancer Trust concert series.

YUNGBLUD, Madness and Don Broco have also agreed to play, while the comedy line-up features Joel Dommett, Tom Allen, Rob Beckett, Rosie Jones, Romesh Ranganathan, Suzi Ruffell and Seann Walsh.

“Live music has been hit hard by the pandemic and it has been particularly frustrating for me that we haven’t been able to get artists on stage to raise money for this vitally important cause,” Roger Daltrey says.
