English Teacher have unveiled the details of their debut EP Polyawkward.

“Writing the lyrics for A55 was a cathartic exercise after waking up with ‘The Fear’ the morning after the night before – reflecting on the rise and fall of the ego as it became affected by what I put in my body, I hoped that putting it down in verse would make the embarrassment all worth it,” Lily Fontaine says of its new single.

The EP builds on last year’s impressive releases which included the summer track Wallace, when the band were a part of Live4ever’s Presents… series:

“The band continued to play as Titanic sank,” our review reads.

“We all know the story. That no-one could later quite agree on what was actually being played as the ship succumbed to the icy waters of the Atlantic is by the by really.”

“English Teacher have settled on ‘Nearer, My God, To Thee’, as most do. Its interlude is just one of the many impressively assured touches to their new single Wallace; named for Wallace Hartley, leader of said band and apparently something of a folk hero in the hometown he shares with Lily Fontaine.”
