Seven years since Later…When The TV Turns To Static, Glasvegas have made their comeback with the details of a new album and UK tour.




“If you follow your heart and your instincts, it might be difficult and you’ll trip yourself up at times – but usually, it works out,” James Allan says as the band, like most, keep their plans on hold until next year when the Godspeed LP is due to be released in April.

Ride‘s Andy Bell has announced the release of his debut solo album The View From Halfway Down on October 9th.

After amassing solo material over a number of years, Bell finally began knocking things into shape during lockdown, and later invited his former Oasis colleague Gem Archer on to engineering duties.

Sam Fender played the first major UK concert in months last week as Newcastle Racecourse was transformed into a socially distanced outdoor space dubbed the Virgin Money Unity Arena.

2,500 people – each in their own family and friends bubble – were kept safely apart on 500 separate viewing platforms as Fender helped the UK’s live music scene take its tentative first steps back from lockdown, very much in a ‘new normal’.

The Cribs have set their eighth album for release later this year.

Self-produced by the band during sessions in Los Angeles in the spring and summer of 2019 at the Foo Fighters’ Studio 606, Night Network has been set for November 13th and is being previewed with a video for its lead single Running Into You, which features a turn from actor Sam Riley.

As expected following their return last month with the new single For Sure, Future Islands have confirmed their sixth studio album for release later this year.

As Long As You Are will succeed 2017’s The Far Field on October 9th, and is set to be their first with the permanent addition of drummer Mike Lowry. It was co-produced by the band in the company of engineer Steve Wright.

FKA twigs, Arlo Parks and one of the previously announced winners, Little Simz, grabbed the headlines at last week’s virtual AIM Awards.

Independent music was celebrated with the award of Best (Difficult) Second Album to FKA twigs’ Magdalene and the naming of Arlo Parks – whose Black Dog track remains a regular on Live4ever’s stereo – as the ‘One To Watch’, while as we already knew before the socially distanced ceremony, Little Simz was given the Pioneer Award.
