Noel Gallagher was honoured with the BMI President’s Award at the BMI London Awards last week in recognition of his ‘influence on songwriting within the music industry’.

Reflecting on his career during interviews on the red carpet, Gallagher reiterated his indifference towards an Oasis reunion, but accepted it’s a past he will always be associated with. “We broke up because of a perfect storm of little things,” he told the PA.

Coldplay are getting a little more conventional with the latest bit of promotion for their new album Everyday Life.

After first announcing the LP by sending out letters to their fans, and then revealing its tracklist in the North Wales Daily Post, the band are now streaming Orphans and Arabesque – and they’re there for everyone to see immediately on YouTube.

Dua Lipa has set the new track Don’t Start Now for release next Friday.

Out on November 1st, the nu-disco of Don’t Start Now is being described as the start of the ‘next era’ for a popstar who has risen to worldwide fame since the release in 2015 of her debut single and the many hits which have followed, totalling over 40 million sales.

A new album from Tame Impala has taken the next step forward with the confirmation of its title and (vague) release period.

The Slow Rush is to follow 2015’s Currents in 2020, and more immediately the singles Patience and Borderline which, as promised by Kevin Parker, accompanied the band’s headline booking at this year’s Coachella Festival.

The first wave of acts for South By Southwest 2020 have been announced as the festival begins preparations for its return to Austin next March.

From UK shores, FEET, Black Country, New Road and Dry Cleaning should be on anyone’s must-see list, while Pigsx7, Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard and Bang Bang Romeo are some more of the bright new things heading to Texas from British shores.

Kasabian have announced an outdoor show at Leicester’s Victoria Park for June 20th next year.

Six years on from the band’s first gig there, it’s been dubbed Solstice II and promises to be their only UK concert of 2020. Sam Fender is to provide the main support. “We’re absolutely buzzing to be able to put on Solstice II in our home town of Leicester,” Serge Pizzorno says.
