Where Are Your Kids Tonight? is the third single from CMAT‘s forthcoming Crazymad, For Me album, and this one features special guest John Grant.
“I always knew this song was going to be a duet, and when I was writing it I always said to myself, ‘It would be so good if we could get someone *like* John Grant on this’, because a) his body of lyrics reflects my own life and experience more closely than anyone else working today b) I never thought we would get him.”
“But I got him! And he is so sweet. His performance really adds the layer of profundity that I was looking for to carry off the two-ages-staring-at-each-other angle. Love him so much.”
A Savage has signed to Rough Trade for the release of his new solo single Thanksgiving Prayer; ‘Every year on that day I write down some words having to do with gratitude’, the Parquet Courts frontman said.
“Some years are better than others, but the last one I celebrated these words just sort of came out of me,” he continued.
“It was a pretty special holiday actually, because in fact we were recording this song, but I made everybody take a day off. (Producer) John Parish and his wife Michelle were kind enough to allow me to take over their kitchen to cook the meal for everyone. Dylan and I were the only Americans, so there was a bit of explaining to do.”
A fresh chapter for Tycho has begun with the release of the new single Time To Run.
It’s out with a promo directed by Patrick Elmore, who explained: “The video for Time To Run is autobiographical based around a cross country meet I ran in.”
“Cross country races can be a very solitary pursuits; spectators, coaches and officials are all there at the starting area but once the race begins you disappear into the woods where it’s just you against the other runners, carrying all the of expectations of the outside world.”
The Drums‘ new album Jonny has been set for release on October 13th.
The record will revolve around Jonny Pierce’s experiences growing up in what’s described as, ‘a cult-like religious community in upstate New York’, and is being previewed today with Better.
“When I finished Jonny, I listened to it, and I heard my soul reflected back at me,” Pierce said.
Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy‘s latest Keeping Secrets Will Destroy You single is Crazy Blue Bells.
“I believe that it is apparent that this piece of work is a celebration of gratitude and collective action,” he’s said of the video, which was directed by Ray Tintori
“It’s a multi-generational, cross-discipline effort with implicit resonances into shared pasts and presents. I met director Ray Tintori when he was a small child and I was a slightly larger child. Participating in this visualization of Crazy Blue Bells with Tintori, producer Julia Simpson, and a massive consortium of creatives is a joy of my life.”
Computerwife – aka Addie Warncke – has shared I Get Better Every Day from her self-titled debut album which is due out on August 4th.
“When I made this song, I thought I was gaining control of my life and building self confidence,” she’s said.
“This is one of the first songs that taught me how to write lyrics. I was reading Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer and wrote down interesting words and then found ways to use those words to express my own thoughts.”
