Egyptian Blue will release their debut album A Living Commodity via Yala! Records on October 27th.
“Skin was a demo I wrote on my balcony on a hot summer’s day,” the band have said. “I became completely infatuated by the shakers, insisting that this is a shaker song and the rest is just background noise.”
“It’s a simple song and kind of structurally unorthodox. But again as many EB songs have the tendency to complicate simple ideas, Skin certainly wasn’t an exception. I see wide open spaces snapping into a tight and clean portrait and back and forth between them. It toys with the idea of being ok then not ok and pining to wear another’s Skin in the climate of discontent in yourself and your situations.”
Isaac Holman has shared Telephobia, featuring Kate Nash, from his new Baby Dave solo album Different Gravy which will be released on August 11th.
“Telephobia is all about finding it hard to keep in contact with your mates, particularly when there’s shit going on in your life, whether it be mental health struggles or real life drama,” Holman explained.
“I knew I wanted Kate on the tune but I wasn’t sure how to go about it, it felt like a long shot. I gave her a cheeky follow to try and make contact and then lo and behold she messaged me saying she was into my stuff and that she also has OCD. It felt like we had a nice connection and after chatting for a while I said if you ever wanna make any music together, I’m down.”
Sorry have released a new version of Screaming In The Rain Again, the track which originally featured on last year’s second studio album Anywhere But Here.
“We wanted to make a version that was harder, stronger, faster. We felt we could show a different side to the version that is on the album, one with more passion.”
The band will be at Bluedot Festival this weekend, and return to the UK from mainland Europe on August 18th for another festival appearance at Green Man.
Slowdive have shared ‘skin in the game’ from their forthcoming ‘everything is alive‘ LP.
It’s six years since the band returned with their self-titled record, and they’ve just started a tour of Australasia which is due to continue in Brisbane tomorrow night.
They’ll be back in the UK next month for an appearance at Green Man Festival, and have Bristol, London, Belfast and Dublin gigs booked for November.
Ash have unveiled their new single Like A God as they continue prepping their first studio album in five years.
Tim Wheeler has previously described Race The Night as, ‘the sound of the band reveling in the sheer joy of being a band after being separated by time and distance’, and of this track he’s said:
“Like A God pushes the rock aspect of the album to its furthest limits. An ode to sexual apotheosis it revels in a carnal riff played with mantra like repetition before reaching a frenzied climax.”
Angie McMahon has unveiled her new album Light, Dark, Light Again with its lead single Letting Go.
“Letting Go is a place to keep the lessons that I’ll keep on needing,” the Melbourne-based singer said. “Reminders to go easy and gentle, be imperfect, let things leave.”
“The learning is never-ending. I’m always in the process of remembering to release what my brain clings to – thoughts, people, safe zones – and land in the present moment. It’s so hard for me to do, and then such a euphoric relief when it happens, so that’s what we tried to capture in the recording. I hope someone screams ‘Letting Go’ in the car on an open road somewhere.”
