Matt Maltese is our New Music Guide highlight this week with the brand new single Vacant In The 21st Century.
The track was produced by Hugo White of The Maccabees, while Maltese has had this to say of its lyrical themes: “The song grew out of a general feeling amongst me and my friends of a futile disillusionment with politics, consumerism, ardent patriotism, and capitalism. A feeling that the concept of happiness we’re all sold is so simplistic that those of us who don’t feel what we’re expected to feel end up lost, depressed. I hope the song expresses some kind of strange solace in being the doomed kids.”
