Our recap of the stories we featured during the past seven days includes another reschedule for Gerry Cinnamon and the return of Big Red Machine.

Gerry Cinnamon will be hoping this is the last time he has to reschedule the big UK and Ireland tour plans which he’s had pending for the past year and more.

Live duties behind his second album should now start with arena-sized UK gigs during September and October this year, while the big outdoor shows in Cardiff, Killarney, Cork, Dublin and Glasgow are coming up in the June and July of 2022.

Covers of Sad But True by Sam Fender and St. Vincent are streaming online as Metallica prepare to release an anniversary edition of The Black Album.

These two artists have contributed to the Metallica Blacklist record which will be accompanying the remastered, multi-format reissue of the original LP on September 10th, as have the likes of Miley Cyrus, Elton John and Phoebe Bridgers.

Main acts Richard Ashcroft, The Streets and Royal Blood – together with other confirmed artists such as Little Simz, The Lathums and Jake Bugg – can look forward to performing at a full capacity Tramlines Festival next month.

Organisers have confirmed the Sheffield event will be a part of the next phase of the UK government’s pilot scheme for the return of live music – one whose success so far they’ve only just deemed fit to make public.

Big Red Machine by Graham Tolbert

Aaron Dessner and Justin Vernon have confirmed their second Big Red Machine record for release on August 27th.

Following 2018’s self-titled debut – which put the side-project on Live4ever’s Best Of lists that year – How Long Do You Think It’s Gonna Last? is being previewed with Latter Days which, like most of the LP, features a guest turn. For this one, it’s Anaïs Mitchel.

Parquet Courts have announced some US tour dates after giving a limited 12″ edition release to their new song Plant Life, their first since 2018’s wonderful Wide Awake! record.

“It’s a distillation from a 40 plus minute improvisation prompted by producer Rodaidh McDonald, and every way we’ve sliced it up illustrates a different mood of the same perspective of ecstasy and aspiration to not only grow, but form roots outside of our own barriers,” Brown adds.

RZA has announced the release of his new album RZA Vs Bobby Digital on August 6th with a new single – the pleasingly familiarly titled Saturday Afternoon Kung Fu Theater Pt. 1.

The LP’s recording saw the Wu-Tang legend hand over production duties – which he’s held so often since the early days with that troupe – over to DJ Scratch.
