Mogwai have released As The Love Continues after the plans for its recording sessions had to be ripped up thanks to the pandemic – the band remained in Worcestershire whilst producer Dave Fridmann worked behind the desk in the States, where the band had originally been hoping to record.

It’s been previewed most recently with one of the few tracks featuring vocals, Ritchie Sacramento, whose title came from, ‘a misunderstanding a friend had about how to say Ryuichi Sakamoto’, according to Stuart Braithwaite.

“The lyrics were inspired by a story Bob Nastanovich shared about his friend and bandmate David Berman who proclaimed ‘Rise Crystal Spear’ as he threw a shovel at a sports car,” he explained. “The song is dedicated to all the musician friends we’ve lost over the years.”
