Emily Eavis has dismissed suggestions that the Glastonbury Festival could be forced to move from its long-standing Worthy Farm location.
It was her father and co-organiser Michael who apparently set the rumours in motion after discussing a problem with a gas pipe running underneath the site. The quotes from the elder Eavis did imply that the situation was under control, but that didn’t stop some predictable sensationalist headlines emerging – headlines which Emily has moved to quickly bat away.
“There seems to have been a misunderstanding about the gas line which runs under a part of the festival site,” she’s told The Guardian.
“We work closely with the National Grid to ensure all necessary precautions are taken in relation to the gas line. This means we can continue running the festival on Worthy Farm, without any issues connected to this.”
Glastonbury is already sold-out for 2016 despite not yet revealing any of its main Pyramid Stage or Other Stage headliners. Coldplay are being strongly linked and only increased the possibility by leaving the festival’s June weekend free from their European tour plans, while Adele is also being tipped to put her aversion to big crowds aside and headline a major festival for the first time.
