Weekly News Round-Up: Royal Blood, The Strokes and more

You’re in the right place if you’ve missed any of the week’s top news stories – here Live4ever’s Weekly News Round-Up presents a recap of the biggest headlines we featured during the last seven days.

Royal Blood live at Nottingham Arena (Gary Mather for Live4ever)

Royal Blood and Chvrches have joined headliners Foo Fighters, The 1975, Twenty One Pilots and Post Malone at Reading/Leeds 2019.

The full list of new additions can be found in the full article as the twin festivals prepare for another August holiday weekend. It’s Royal Blood’s first confirmed UK gig for a good while, and comes quickly after the duo were named on the bill for Lowlands Festival in the Netherlands.

Pete Doherty will release his first record with backing band The Puta Madres on April 26th.

Peter Doherty & The Puta Madres includes Trampolene frontman Jack Jones on lead guitar as well as Miggles (bass), Miki Beavis (violin), Katia DeVidas (piano/keyboards) and Rafa (drums).

Interpol‘s new track Fine Mess went live last week.

It’s ‘about a sanguine and starry pair, buoyed and dashed alike by their own dreams and appetites’ according to Paul Banks, and is a prompt response to the band’s 2018 album Marauder.

There’ll be five headliners at Kendal Calling when this year’s event takes place between July 25th-28th.

The Courteeners, Doves, Manic Street Preachers, Nile Rodgers & Chic and Orbital are all leading the bill, with Idles, Tom Jones, Mystery Jets, KT Tunstall and Nina Nesbitt are some of the other confirmed performers.

All Points East 2018 (Gary Mather for Live4ever)

The Strokes have been confirmed for All Points East in London, and their supporting cast is ridiculously good.

The New York band are making a ‘global comeback’ this year and will take it to London’s Victoria Park on May 25th, and those of you able to get hold of tickets will also be treated to performances by The Raconteurs, Interpol, Johnny Marr, Parquet Courts, Jarvis Cocker and Courtney Barnett.

The Live At Leeds line-up for 2019 has swelled with the second wave of artists being led by the likes of Kate Tempest, Drenge and Sam Fender.

The event will be back exploring Leeds’ city centre on May 4th, and also now has The Sherlocks on the bill, who say: “Really looking forward to playing in front of the Leeds crowd again!”

Peter Jackson is working on a new film about The Beatles which will take a fresh look at the recording of their Let It Be album.

Initially conceived by Paul McCartney as a document of the Fab Four rehearsing for an as-live recorded album, the Get Back project has instead been remembered as a window into the fragmenting relationships within the band that would lead to their split not long after.

Wolf Alice will be headlining Standon Calling this year with Nile Rodgers & Chic and Rag N Bone Man.

“We are honoured to be headlining a festival,” they respond. “We won’t be doing many shows this year so Standon Calling is gonna be extremely exciting.”
