MGMT‘s quest to win the Most Bonkers Band Of 2013 award continues with the unveiling of the official promo for ‘Alien Days‘ – have a watch below.
The video sees Andrew VanWyngarden heading out on a first class journey through Space in the latest installment of the band’s decidedly unconventional activities this past twelve months.
For most of the year, the duo had been warning fans to expect something even more off-kilter than the polarising 2010 LP ‘Congratulations‘. “We’re not trying to make music that everyone understands the first time they hear it,” Ben Goldwasser has previously said, while VanWyngarden admitted: “I don’t even know if it’s music we would want to listen to. It’s just what’s coming out of us. We didn’t make a single compromise.”
And on the recording of the LP in Buffalo, he remarked: “Weird things would happen to me up there. I had total mental breakdowns sometimes.”
Upon its arrival in September, the self-titled third album certainly didn’t disappoint.
