Our recap of the main stories we featured during the past seven days includes new album updates from The 1975 and Sampa The Great.

The title and tracklist of The 1975’s fifth studio album has seemingly been confirmed to fans.

Being Funny In A Foreign Language is all set to follow 2020’s Notes On A Conditional Form, an album on which the band were, ‘not afraid of looking everyone in the eye’:

“Notes On A Conditional Form is a highly thought provoking, impactful record, not just because of the candour of its personality, or that it shows how one of the world’s biggest acts continue to pursue a unique take on the responsibilities of stardom,” our review reads.

Yard Act have recorded a new version of 100% Endurance with Elton John.

The standout from this year’s debut album The Overload now has the inimitable backing vocals and piano from their number one famous fan, brought together by producer Ali Chant.

“Within our camp we have a saying: ‘Mad shit happens when you do art’ – it means what it means,” James Smith explained. “You make stuff because you want to make it, and you throw stuff you’ve made into the world because you’d rather share it than not and then you leave it alone and let it do its thing.”

Courtney Barnett, Animal Collective, Faye Webster, Jenny Hval and Cate Le Bon are leading the first wave of artists to be confirmed for Pitchfork Festival London.

“We’re thrilled to be today announcing our first incredible artists for the second Pitchfork Festival London – and to be part of a growing family of events now in Paris and Berlin in the same period,” promoter Dan Monsell responds.

“We were blown away by the reception to the launch of Pitchfork Festival in the UK last year, and we can’t wait to develop the event into its second year. With so much exciting music across the bill, it’s going to be a really amazing five days – plus we still have very incredible stuff to announce ahead of November too!”

Sampa The Great will release her second album As Above, So Below on September 9th.

After previously sharing the collaboration with Denzel Curry, Lane, the new record will also feature contributions from the likes of Joey Bada$$ and Kojey Radical, and it’s set to be toured around Europe in October, including UK dates at the Manchester Gorilla and London Koko.

“Never Forget is an ode to Zamrock music, a genre born in the 70’s combining traditional Zambian music and psychedelic rock,” Sampa Says.

Pink Floyd’s tenth studio album Animals – originally released in January 1977 – is about to be the latest from the veteran band to receive a reissue.

The ‘2018 Remix’ of the record will be made available in a variety of formats on 5.1 Surround Sound for the first time, complete with a re-design of the iconic artwork from Aubrey ‘Po’ Powell, partner at Hipgnosis Studios of the original designer Storm Thorgerson.

“With the original 1977 album cover being such an iconic piece of stand-alone art, I had the chance to update it, which was a rather daunting task, but Hipgnosis took the opportunity to re photograph the image to reflect a changing world,” Powell explains.

Hot on the heels of an appearance at Glastonbury last month, Jamie T announced the details of a November UK tour.

The Theory Of Whatever tour has been arranged to open at the Newcastle O2 City Hall on November 10th as Jamie continues his comeback following the return last month with first single The Old Style Raiders – produced by Hugo White of The Maccabees who joined him up onstage at Worthy Farm.

“It’s got hope in it,” he said of the track. “It’s fighting to find something that means enough to you that you love. The fight to find that, and to carry on striving, to find something you love enough to hold on to.”
