Gaz Coombes will be airing brand new solo tracks during the short tour.

Whilst the Supergrass reunion has been the main focus – pandemic permitting – during the past couple of years, it’s good to see Gaz Coombes hasn’t been neglecting his fruitful solo career.

Coombes has announced a run of UK shows in April to continue preparations for his follow-up to 2018’s World’s Strongest Man, and will play London, Bath, Tunbridge Wells, Hebden Bridge, York and Leeds.

As long-awaited as it was, the timing of that Supergrass comeback couldn’t really have been worse – as noted by the band when we caught them live at the 2021 Isle Of Wight Festival:

“The next afternoon, Supergrass have the Best Of on display too but, as Gaz Coombes notes, they’re also enduring ‘one of the longest fucking reunions ever’,” our review reads.

“If such a successful band having the wind taken out of the sails of their comeback isn’t exactly one of the biggest artistic tragedies of the pandemic, it’s still another sign of its wide-ranging consequences.”

“The set has it all, but fails to shake off a lingering feeling that what could’ve been one of 2020’s best stories has now been reduced to one of 2021’s more melancholic footnotes.”
