Paul McCartney’s third instalment of his McCartney solo series has landed the veteran songwriter nominations for the 2022 Grammy Awards.
McCartney III itself is up for Best Rock Album, while its Find My Way single is up for Best Rock Song.
Elsewhere, Arlo Parks is in with a chance of more high profile recognition thanks to being shortlisted for Best Alternative Music Album and Best New Artist; Foo Fighters released music so duly get Grammy nominations, and Jon Batiste, Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga, Justice, Doja Cat, Billie Eilish, H.E.R., Lil Nas X, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift and Kanye West are in the main Album Of The Year category.
Explaining the decision to expand each main shortlisted category from eight to ten artists, Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason, Jr. has said:
“We’re living in a time of extraordinary growth in music. Over 60,000 songs a day are being released. With so much more music available. There’s a lot more excellence to recognise and celebrate.”
