Franz Ferdinand unveil Hits To The Head compilation with new track Billy Goodbye

Franz Ferdinand

“It’s the same as writing a setlist for a festival: you want to play the songs you know people want to hear,” Franz Ferdinand’s Alex Kapranos has said.

Franz Ferdinand have confirmed the release of their greatest hits album Hits To The Head on March 11th next year.

“We added two new songs, recorded last year: Billy Goodbye and Curious, both co-produced at the last stage with Stuart Price,” Kapranos added.

“I have friends who believe you’re somehow not a ‘real’ fan if you own a best of rather than a discography. I disagree. I think of my parents’ record collection as a kid. I loved their compilation LPs.”

The first of those new tracks mentioned is streaming online now, part of a collection which opens with a reminder of all those dancefloor ready anthems which made the band’s self-titled debut such an immediate hit – Darts Of Pleasure, Take Me Out, The Dark Of The Matinée, Michael and This Fire.

It’s their first move since the departure of influential drummer Paul Thomson was announced last month.
