John Hassell and Annekei have our pick of the week’s tracks after the pair unveiled their new band The Orchid Room with its first single Be The Light.
The Libertines bass player wrote the song in response to the remote living which the coronavirus pandemic has forced on the world during the past year, restrictions which both he and Annekei had to endure when their mutual SGI-Buddhist group in Denmark went online.
“The song is an encouragement to everyone I could only meet on the phone or computer screen,” Hassall has said.
“I wanted to remind them that we could overcome all the distance, emotional turmoil and problems that have been caused by Covid 19. As long as we can stick it out and support each other.”
