What a tease Mr. Nicky Wire is.
Barely a month after the Manic Street Preachers bass player said the 2013/14 one-two of Rewind The Film and Futurology had ‘sapped them of their creative juices’, the band have duly confirmed a brand new studio album for release next year.
Resistance Is Futile will be their thirteenth studio effort, and is due for release on April 6th, 2018. “The main themes of ‘Resistance is Futile’ are memory and loss; forgotten history; confused reality and art as a hiding place and inspiration,” they say.
“It’s obsessively melodic – in many ways referencing both the naive energy of ‘Generation Terrorists’ and the orchestral sweep of ‘Everything Must Go’. After delay and difficulties getting started, the record has come together really quickly over the last few months through a surge of creativity and some old school hard work.”
UK arena dates have been lined up to support the record, and will visit Newcastle, Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester, Llandudno, Leeds, London and Cardiff.
