Nicky Wire has painted an uncertain future for the Manic Street Preachers after telling the BBC he’s ‘kind of given up listening to music’.

“There’s lots of good music out there – St Vincent is great, Wolf Alice I really like – but I just listen to Radio 4,” he continued when speaking at yesterday’s Q Awards ceremony.

Wire admitted the band’s previous two albums Rewind The Film and Futurology, released within months of each other in 2013 and 2014, has ‘sapped us of our creative juices’. On the chances of a new record, he concluded:

“It’s really frightening actually because I just don’t know. It’s hard to see one coming out at the moment.”

The Manics were at the London Roundhouse collecting Q’s Inspiration Award, joining other winners which included Liam Gallagher and Kasabian.
