Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones have announced a new film documenting their rather historic free concert in Havana, Cuba on March 25th, 2016 – played in front of a crowd of over one million.

“The Cuba show was simply amazing,” says Mick Jagger. “It was an incredible moment; a huge sea of people for as far as the eye could see. You could feel the buzz of the enthusiasm from the crowd and that was for me the stand out moment.”

The director of the Oasis documentary Supersonic, which is due for release on October 2nd, has given more details of the project to Q Magazine.

According to fan account OasisWorld on Instagram, Mat Whitecross has revealed there are no ‘talking head’ style interviews with members of the band. Instead, the hundreds of hours of interviews which were conducted are acting as narration, giving the impression of “Liam and Noel in the same room, like they’re having a conversation”.

Roger Daltrey will mark a century of Teenage Cancer Trust gigs with The Who next year.

Fittingly performing the 100th show of the charity concert series which he curates, Daltrey and Pete Townshend are planning a special acoustic outing of ‘Tommy‘ at the Royal Albert Hall in London on March 30th and April 1st next year.

After a Manchester Arena gig on August 20th, Morrissey has now added a significant run of American and Asian tours to his autumn diary.

Starting at Riot Fest in Chicago on September 17th, Morrissey will travel to Kentucky, Pennsylvania and New York before heading off to Japan, further afield in Asia and finally Australia by the end of October.

Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis is thinking ahead to the band’s next record.

And although they are expected to take a break before recording a fifth album, Yannis has told Q magazine whenever that time comes around he will challenge the band to ‘rock the boat’.

Blur

Blur will make their 1991 debut ‘Leisure‘ the latest album to be the subject of a remastered re-release.

It’s not the first time ‘Leisure’ has been put out in a new form, but this new version announced on its 25th anniversary and pressed to turquoise vinyl by Parlophone has been restored at Abbey Road though is yet to come with any details of bonus content or extra tracks.

The 1975 will undertake a mammoth North American tour before their UK arena jaunt in December.

The American dates begin in Queens, New York at the Meadows Music & Arts Festival and continue for virtually all of October and move into November at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.

The Stone Roses moved back to the top of the UK Vinyl Singles Chart last week with ‘All For One‘.

It was back up from #2, swapping places with Biffy Clyro‘s ‘Wolves Of Winter‘, while PJ Harvey and Aphex Twin are among a few other acts currently enjoying a week-on-week boost in the vinyl market.

An animated video for ‘Boys That Sing’ has been revealed as the posthumous Viola Beach album was made available last week.

The promo is a joint venture by Komixx Entertainment and their Warrington-based partners Mackinnon & Saunders Digital Studios. “We are delighted to be able to produce an animation that reflects their songs, creativity and their unique talent,” Andrew Cole-Bulgin, joint CEO and head of Film & TV at Komixx Media Group, says.
