Jack White‘s Third Man Records will release the White Stripes‘ first ever live appearance and full gig on coloured vinyl as part of the label’s ‘Vault’ subscription service.
Third Man’s Vault Package #13 will include the duo’s first ever live appearance together, at an open mic night in their home city of Detroit back in 1997, which is to be issued on a red 7″, while their maiden full show, which followed soon after at The Gold Dollar venue in Detroit, will be available on a white 12″ record.
Last week, a very rare copy of the White Stripes’ second single ‘Lafayette Blues‘, backed with ‘Sugar Never Tasted So Good‘, sold for a fee of almost $13,000 at auction.
The 7″, which is one of only 15 numbered copies and was originally flogged by Jack White for as little as $6 at Gold Dollar in the band’s early days, was eventually sold to a private collector for $12,700 (£8,100).
