Respected producer Nigel Godrich, often dubbed the ‘6th Radiohead member’ has unveiled a new band of his own.
The producer’s band, Ultraísta, is a collaboration between himself, Los Angeles-based producer/drummer Joey Waronker and British vocalist Laura Bettinson.
Godrich is credited with helping Radiohead achieve the experimental sound which has come to define much of their career. He first worked with the Oxford group on early recordings such as 1994’s ‘My Iron Lung‘ EP, and since 1997’s ‘OK Computer‘ has been credited as co-producer on every Radiohead album.
Godrich is also noted for his work with Beck on records such as ‘Mutations‘ and ‘Sea Change‘, and in 1999 produced Travis‘ commercial breakthrough record ‘The Man Who‘. In 2005, his work with Paul McCartney saw Godrich receive a Grammy nomination for Producer of the Year.
