British rock band Muse were in their hometown of Teignmouth, Devon over the weekend to carry the Olympic flame as it continues its journey across the UK ahead of the start of the 2012 London Games this summer.
Matt Bellamy, Chris Wolstenholme and Dom Howard were met by a crowd of around 7,000 yesterday (May 20th) according to reports, as they joined a further 118 people who helped to carry the Olympic flame from Plymouth to Exeter, after the likes of David Beckham, Boris Johnson and Seb Coe were formally presented with the torch on behalf of London last week.
The Olympic flame’s 70-day journey across the UK will end when it arrives in London on July 27th in time for the Games’ opening ceremony.
In August, rock stars will also play their part in the closing ceremony, when Blur help to celebrate the occasion by headlining a concert at Hyde Park, with New Order and The Specials also due to perform.
