Hotly-tipped Brother have apparently been forced to change their name after an Australian band based in America also called Brother threatened legal action.

After a short-lived change to Brother UK internationally, something also forced upon The Charlatans, the band’s frontman Lee Newell has now announced a full change to Viva Brother.

“A long time ago in a galaxy far far away three men decided one day that it would be a good idea to start a band called Brother,” Newell explains. “Many, many years later four frighteningly handsome devils in the desolate, post apocalyptic wasteland of Slough decided to do the same thing. But something called “litigation” got in the way.  However with this out of the way we do finally feel free. Brother is dead. Long Live VIVA BROTHER!”

Following months of pretty intense industry hype on the back of singles such as ‘New Year’s Day‘ and ‘Darling Buds Of May‘, Viva Brother will release their debut album, ‘Famous First Words‘, on August 1st.
