Welsh rockers Manic Street Preachers have announced details of their first American tour in ten years. The band will tour the US in September and October, beginning in Seattle on September 21st and finishing in Boston on October 8th. The tour also includes two dates in Canada.

They are visiting the US for the first time since the release of ‘This Is My Truth, Tell Me Yours’ in 1999, in support of their new record ‘Journal For Plague Lovers’. The new album was released in the UK on 18th May this year and will get it’s US release on September 15th.

Despite gaining a largely positive response from critics, and peaking at no.3 in the UK Album Chart, bassist Nicky Wire revealed he considered not releasing the album at all when they finished recording. Speaking to The Guardian newspaper in May, he said: “I said, ‘Let’s just fucking dig a hole and bury it and make it even more of an art statement, say we’ve made this great album, but it’s just too much to give away.’ James was like, ‘After I’ve done all that work? Fuck off!'”
