Camden indie rock outfit Tribes have every reason to be happy with the first quarter of their music year. After their album Baby charted in the top 20 indie album UK charts the quartet came to the states to woo the large crowds at SXSW and braved through an exhausting gigging schedule of up to four daily shows! The final week of March the band returned to a packed, self proclaimed ‘favorite room’ in the States, The Mercury Lounge. Live4ever was there to catch the stage action of front man Johnny Lloyd and Co. for you.
London band Tribes are looking to have their second record released sometime early next year, despite only releasing their debut album ‘Baby‘ back in January.
London newcomers Tribes have announced a spring UK tour in support of their UK top 20 debut album ‘Baby‘.
Tribes have risen through the ranks of the crowded Camden music scene and emerged as contenders for the title of debut album of the year.
Formed a little over a year ago, they’ve propelled themselves into the mainstream after winning over last year’s festival crowds to make them one of the most promising bands of 2012.
The post Libertines meltdown in 2004 left a void which for a frustrating amount of time was filled with copycats and second rate rip offs. The city had been overrun with bands all clinging on desperately to the glory of those coat tails and a once promising time in music has now almost sunk without trace. Tribes are not the new Libertines, nor do they share much in common musically, but the parallels in their dramatic rise to stardom and strong links with Camden’s gig circuit will no doubt draw comparisons.
Adele‘s ‘21‘ has climbed one place to return to the top of the UK Album Chart this week, almost exactly a year after its release.
London newcomers Tribes have said they were content to leave ‘loads of little mistakes’ on their debut album ‘Baby‘ to ensure the original spirit of their recording sessions was maintained on the final mix.

London band Tribes have confirmed the details of their hotly-anticipated debut album ‘Baby‘.
Produced by Arctic Monkeys cohort Mike Crossey, the 11-track record will be released on January 16th next year and includes early EP favourites ‘We Were Children‘ and ‘When My Day Comes‘, as well as recent single ‘Sappho‘.
