Glastonbury organisers confirm year off in 2018

There’ll be a fallow year for Glastonbury in 2018, organisers have confirmed.

“We can also confirm that we will be taking our next fallow year in 2018, in order to give the farm, the village and the festival team the traditional year off,” a statement reads. “There are no plans to hold an event at another location in 2018.”

These breaks have become a semi-regular occurrence for one of the world’s biggest annual music festivals – the last coming in 2012.

The 2018 hiatus has been on the cards for some time and closely related to a proposed move to the Longleat estate in Wiltshire. While the exact reason for a move – whether it be a one-off as Worthy Farm takes a breather or as a permanent new site for the event – it appears to be dead in the water anyway according Michael Eavis, who told The Telegraph he had failed to come to an agreement with its owners.
