Live4ever’s New Tunes Guide feat. Sean Grant & The Wolfgang, The Orielles and more

May rings in with highlights this week from Sean Grant & The Wolfgang’s debut EP and newcomers The Orielles.

Sean Grant & The Wolfgang release their debut EP ‘We The Working Class’ on June 2nd after 2013 saw their first single ‘Name’ playlisted by BBC Introducing. Led primarily by their eponymous frontman, The WolfGang’s songs are crafted with Grant’s long term friend Steve Fiske. Live UK dates this month continue at Esquires in Bedford on May 8th.

The Orielles consist of three bandmates aged between 15-18, who recently issued their new single ‘Entity’ through Manchester record label Scruff Of The Neck Records. “It’s difficult to pinpoint a distinctive sound we have however we’d like to think that our songs are both nostalgic yet with a modern flair,” guitarist Henry Carlyle Wade says. “For us, style varies with songs but we always aim to incorporate catchy melodies and jangly/pop elements.”

These and eight other picks of the week can be found by scrolling through our latest collection. Find out much more about this week’s featured artists by clicking on their individual names, and you can catch up with all our previous editions direct through the New Tunes Guide logo above.

It’s all about the sound really.

The skitter of a drum machine, the romance of the 808 kicking “Manchester” into life, the howling feedback that links The Who to Jesus And the Mary Chain…to Napalm Death, the jangle that stretches from the Beatles to Arctic Monkeys, the soul groove that pulls back from Alex Turner’s Sheffield lads to Marvin Gaye and rebounds to Robin Thicke.

What you need is something that can handle all of those sounds. Something that will cope with whatever mood you’re in. Something that will be true to what you need to hear.

ei8htball. It’s all in your head.
