Live4ever’s New Tunes Guide feat. Desert Mountain Tribe, Tail Feather and more

The latest New Tunes Guide highlights for this month are brought to you by Desert Mountain Tribe and Tail Feather.

Desert Mountain Tribe emerged out of London in late 2012, and have since shared the stage with the likes of Damo Suzuki, The Cult of Dom Keller, The Lucid Dream, Wall of Death and The Telescopes. The band retreated to the picturesque Oxfordshire countryside for the recording of their debut EP, which is due digitally and on 12″ at the end of this month. Tail Feather are returning with their new double A-side single ‘Knocked Down’/’All of a Sudden’, which has already sparked a series of UK tour dates, the final one of those arriving tonight in their hometown Reading. Tail Feather cite the textures of Pink Floyd, Peter Green-era Fleetwood Mac and Steely Dan as points of inspiration and have already found support from BBC Introducing.

It’s all about the sound really.

The skitter of a drum machine, the romance of the 808 kicking “Manchester” into life, the howling feedback that links The Who to Jesus And the Mary Chain…to Napalm Death, the jangle that stretches from the Beatles to Arctic Monkeys, the soul groove that pulls back from Alex Turner’s Sheffield lads to Marvin Gaye and rebounds to Robin Thicke.

What you need is something that can handle all of those sounds. Something that will cope with whatever mood you’re in. Something that will be true to what you need to hear.

ei8htball. It’s all in your head.
