Radiohead Cover R.E.M During Live Return

Radiohead followed in the footsteps of fellow British heavyweights Coldplay by performing a R.E.M cover during their first US show at New York’s Roseland Ballroom last night (September 28th).

After R.E.M announced to the world their decision to call it a day last week, Coldplay took the opportunity to cover the band’s 1993 single ‘Everybody Hurts‘ on the 24th, to lend their respects to the influential American band.

Now, Radiohead have done the same, playing a short version of ‘The One I Love‘ during the intro to their own track ‘Everything In Its Right Place‘.

The New York show marked Radiohead’s major return to the live scene after promotional duties for the 2011 album ‘King Of Limbs‘ had until last night consisted of just one ‘secret’ gig at last June’s Glastonbury festival.

On their comeback, Radiohead drew heavily from the latest record, but also aired various other favourites such as ‘Subterranean Homesick Alien‘ and ‘Street Spirit (Fade Out)‘.

Frontman Thom Yorke has now confirmed the band plan to tour far more extensively come the New Year.
