Win Butler has been speaking again about the next Arcade Fire record, and has revealed the band have ‘two or three’ albums worth of material ready to knock into shape.

As well as writing new Arcade Fire music, Butler has spent a fair amount of lockdown remembering some of the band’s past achievements – filming socially distanced versions with Régine Chassagne of Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains) and its title-track upon the 10th anniversary of The Suburbs, and he’s now told Rick Rubin’s Broken Record podcast that they’re planning on heading, ‘back to Texas to make the next record, during the election’.

“This time around we’ve been in lockdown, have a studio, have every keyboard, drum machine, piano – everything I could want – and time,” he added. “The one piece that’s been missing is the time, and now the time is there.”
