William McCarthy has been forced to cancel his upcoming tour dates due to a back injury.
“I’ve been battling a fairly serious disc herniation in my lower back through my entire USA / Canada Tour that finished a week and a half ago,” he’s written on Facebook.
“I visited an Osteopath Doctor and Chiropractor’s mid tour and the unfortunate news is that I’ll eventually need surgery on my L5-S1 disc. The option I’m left with now is rest and physical therapy for 4-6 weeks, and taking it step by step.”
“Anyone that knows me knows that being benched by a doctor and kept from the stage and all of you is not my idea of a good time. I want to get healthy and back out to you as soon as I can, so wish me luck!”
McCarthy was due to tour the UK and Ireland from the end of this month in support of his debut solo album Shelter, but has now urged fans to seek a refund from their point of purchase.
