Julian Casablancas was joined on stage by honourary New Yorker Dev Hynes – who we used to know as Lightspeed Champion – for a run through of The Strokes‘ ‘You Only Live Once‘ during a gig at the Hammerstein Ballroom earlier this week.

Casablancas is currently flogging his latest solo album with The Voidz and, despite this performance, is still painting an uncertain future during interviews as far as The Strokes are concerned. The last we heard, he did open up the possibility of the band embarking on recording sessions at some point next year, but added that the ‘vibe’ would need to be right if they were to do so.
“I think ‘the vibe’ in the recent past was lost, but I think we learned how to work together better,” he told NME. “More professionally. But now I think we’re looking to combine those things.”
