BBC Music, ‘An ambitious wave of new programmes, innovative partnerships and ground-breaking music initiatives that amount to the BBC’s strongest commitment to music in 30 years’, has been launched with the help of Dave Grohl, Jake Bugg, Chris Martin and plenty more.
A cover of The Beach Boys classic ‘God Only Knows‘ went out across all the BBC platforms yesterday evening (October 7th) – if you can, check out the video below in which the likes of Brian May, Florence Welch and Stevie Wonder are also involved.
“I just feel so incredibly humbled that the BBC would choose ‘God Only Knows’ to promote their new music initiative,” Brian Wilson has said. “All of the artists did such a beautiful job I can’t thank them enough. I’m just honoured that ‘God Only Knows’ was chosen. ‘God Only Knows’ is a very special song. An extremely spiritual song and one of the best I’ve ever written.”
As always with the BBC at this time of year, the new initiative has been started up with Children In Need in mind, and all proceeds from the track will be donated to the charity.
