Our editor’s pick of the week’s new tracks is from The Fernweh, who have made a welcome return with the earworm, call-back packed The Wounds Of Love.
Released on Winterlude Records, it comes after the lauded self-titled debut album of 2018, and the following year’s double A-side single.
The soundtrack work of John Carpenter and Wendy Carlos have been cited as influences, whilst its lyrical starting point is Oscar Wilde’s The Selfish Giant.
“The song is coloured by contrasting shades of fear, division, fury, injustice, walls, borders, kindness, redemption and forgiveness,” Ned Crowther has explained.
“Wilde’s story is, in the same way, a forbidding yet redemptive parable for children, which resonates now more than ever in today’s turbulent world.”
