The Y Not Festival didn’t have a great weekend

It’s fair to say the UK’s Y Not Festival has just had a weekend to forget.

Amid torrential rainpour during Saturday, performances from the likes of The Vaccines and Clean Bandit were cancelled as festival-goers caused their own flood, on social media, to share images of a site which had quickly become a mudbath.

Most complaints centred on a lack of straw on the ground to ease access, while collapsed tents and allegations of theft also abounded. Eventually, organisers made the decision to pull the final day altogether, leading to more complaints of people being left alone in their attempts to remove vehicles from waterlogged car parks.

“Unfortunately we’ve had to take the difficult decision to cancel Sunday due to the adverse weather conditions across the weekend, after consulting all the relevant authorities,” the festival’s statement read. “The safety of our guests, performers and crew is our primary concern and the potential risk was too severe for Sunday to go ahead.”

“We are very sorry for the disappointment and disruption caused to everyone who was looking forward to the final day of the festival. We understand that people will have questions about refunds. We will be giving all our guests further information about this over the coming days.”
