The Who will play the Wembley SSE Arena in London on February 13th, 2016.
The date is a part of the band’s farewell trip around the world which is currently on hold as frontman Roger Daltrey recovers from viral meningitis. “Who’d have thought that fifty years on from first playing at Wembley Arena with the Beatles and many of the top groups of that time, The Who would once again play at this legendary venue,” he says.
“It’s great to be feeling much better after my illness. I’ll be fighting fit by then and I can’t wait to get back to work.”
After half-a-century at the forefront of British rock, and having built a reputation as one of the great live bands of all time, next year is going to be the last for surviving members Daltrey and Pete Townshend; the 50th anniversary dates which began in 2014 were described by the pair as, ‘the beginning of the long goodbye’.
