More UK tour dates coming up in the autumn for The Wedding Present.
A little tenth anniversary celebration of ‘Saturnalia‘ concludes in Leeds and Cambridge this weekend, after which David Gedge and friends resume on September 7th in Cardiff, and in November/December for a much longer run.
We had a chat with Gedge late last year upon his Cinerama project’s special release for the Come Play With Me label, when he told us about songwriting principals for TWP and beyond.
“To me the single is the fundamental unit of pop music, so when I’m writing a song I’m typically bearing that in mind,” he said. “But then it can also depend on the project. For instance, I’m currently working on The Wedding Present’s next release, ‘Going, Going…’ which will be twenty ‘linked’ tracks all with accompanying films.”
“So while a version of one of the songs (‘Two Bridges’) was actually released as a 7” single, these pieces of music were written more as a collection.”
