The Smashing Pumpkins have detailed their first studio album since 2018.
The band reintroduced themselves in a strangely synth mood right at the end of last month with the Cyr and The Colour Of Love singles, and it’s the former which has proved to be the title-track for a 20-song double LP which will be released on November 27th.
Billy Corgan – who’s been recording in Chicago with his fellow founding members James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin, as well as longtime guitarist Jeff Schroeder – described the Cyr single as, ‘dystopic folly, one soul against the world sort of stuff, set against a backdrop of shifting loyalties and sped up time’. “To me it stands as both hopeful and dismissive of what is and isn’t possible with faith,” he said.
