There’ll be new music from The Shins in 2016, reports Consequence Of Sound.
It seems the group’s label Columbia has sent out an early Christmas present to fans in the form of an email which teases: “Happy Holidays from The Shins. New year, new music!”
This after The Shins’ cover of Paul McCartney’s ‘Wonderful Christmastime‘, first released as part of an album compiled with the help of The Decemberists‘ Chris Funk in 2012, was voted the most popular festive tune amongst shoppers in the US.
“Well, we’ve always been super-popular on the Island of Misfit Toys so it was just a matter of time before the human world embraced our incredible Christmas spirit,” James Mercer responded to EW.com.
It was PlayNetwork, a company behind more than 400 playlists for stores in the States, who announced the band had displaced Mariah Carey‘s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You‘ at the top.
