The Shins announce ‘flipped’ version of Heartworms album

Shins

The Shins‘ Heartworms album will get a reworking and re-release on January 19th.

Sparked by updated versions of Name For You and Cherry Hearts which followed the LP’s original release back in March, this ‘flipped’ edition is dubbed The Worm’s Heart and, as the title suggests, will present the slower songs in a faster setting and vica versa.

Heartworms was The Shins’ first studio record since 2012’s Port Of Morrow, and Mercer had high hopes for its impact with fans before release. “I think we’ve got something that Shins fans will really love, and I think there are some other things on there that are different enough,” he told KBOO 90.7.

“I made a concerted effort on some songs to fit the palette, to use the palette that I’ve historically used for the band.”
