The Rolling Stones are facing a hefty fine after their O2 Arena performance on Sunday (November 25th) ran 40 minutes over an agreed curfew.
The band made their 50th anniversary bow in London around half-an-hour later than the scheduled start time of 8pm, and will now be asked to cough up £200,000 as a result according to reports in the press this week.
“It means a big fine – but the guys just do their thing,” agent Bernard Doherty is quoted as saying in The Sun. “There wasn’t a janitor standing there, jangling his keys, saying. ‘I want to go home.”
The stories also claim the Stones’ late finish meant they were forced to drop their iconic single ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction‘ from the encore, though a band spokesman has denied this, telling The Telegraph:
“The band decide what they want to play on stage. It had nothing to do with curfews.”
