The Rolling Stones covering The Beatles and Paul McCartney duetting onstage with Neil Young – the first leg of Desert Trip sure was a celebration of the golden era of rock and roll.

Playing the Friday night after Bob Dylan on the same site as Coachella in California, the Stones aired their version of Come Together – introduced by Mick Jagger as ‘a cover song of a sort of unknown beat group, I think you might remember them‘.

McCartney and Young, the Saturday performers, were together for The Beatles’ A Day In The Life and Why Don’t We Do It in the Road, and John Lennon‘s Give Peace a Chance. Videos are below.

The aforementioned quartet, as well as Roger Waters and The Who, will be back next weekend to wrap up the special event.
