40 years. 40 years since it became one of the first albums to put down on record what had been brewing inside New York clubs such as CBGBs, ushering in a revolutionary new era for rock music.

Now, the Ramones‘ 1976 self-titled debut album is getting an extensive anniversary reissue, including four CDs of new mono mixes, a live album and previously unreleased demos.

It’s all presented in a LP-sized box, where the remastered album comes with a second CD of alternative mixes, outtakes and rare demos of ‘Chain Saw‘, ‘You’re Gonna Kill That Girl‘, ‘Loudmouth‘ and ‘Today Your Love Tomorrow The World‘.

The live album has gigs recorded at The Roxy in Los Angeles on August 12th, 1976, and there’s an essay on the LP from producer Chris Leon and photos from Roberta Bayley – you’ll already be familiar with her work; her portrait of the band adorns the legendary sleeve.
