The Men will stop and reflect on their fortunes between 2008-2011 with a new compilation set for release on November 9th.

Spanning the time from the band’s first demo tape to Leave Home, their debut album for Sacred Bones, Hated: 2008-2011 has pulled seventeen tracks from various sources such as unreleased demos, outtakes, and live recordings. “We wrote that first EP in the practice space, really quickly,” Mark Perro recalls of the We Are The Men EP.

“I remember the exact moment when “Ailment” came together. We kept talking about one riff just going on forever, and that’s what that song is.”

Nick Chiericozzi, meanwhile, has been remembering the 2010 launch show for their maiden full length Immaculada at the now-defunct Brooklyn venue Death by Audio as the ‘end of the start’. “I never thought more than five people knew our band, but there was excitement, and when we played, the crowd was so beautiful and intense that it washed away any doubts I had about what we were up to,” he says.

“People knew the songs already and were commenting on this little bit or the other. It was a great audience, a smart one, and that’s rare to play to.”
