Carl Barat is back in Thailand writing new material with Pete Doherty as an official announcement about a third Libertines record gets closer.
A picture shared on the band’s official Facebook page (above) shows the pair together, and tells fans to expect concrete news surrounding a follow-up to the 2003 self-titled effort ‘soon’.
They’ve been promising a new album ever since The Libertines returned live last summer but, speaking in a short documentary posted on YouTube last month, Doherty revealed Barat will still only record with him on strict terms.
“Carl’s come out, he’s gone back, he’s come out again,” Doherty said. “But he doesn’t want me, he doesn’t want to work with me in London, basically.”
“He’s made that clear. I think he was surprised and pleased at how well it went, working here, away from everything, and how inspired it was. So it’s just a question of him getting back out here.”
