The Kooks will release their new album ‘Listen‘ in September.
The band’s follow-up to the 2011 effort ‘Junk Of The Heart‘ is out on September 1st through Virgin/EMI and, produced by frontman Luke Pritchard and Inflo, is expected to further explore the new sound offered up by recent single ‘Down‘. A new single, ‘Around Town‘, is out on June 15th.
“To me this album is about pure expression,” Pritchard remarks. “Even the way we made the album felt fresh. Rather than us just being a band in a room, playing our guitars with the vocal over the top, which is what we’d always done before, we were really listening to what was going on around us, picking up ideas. The whole thing was much more natural.”
Next month brings four UK dates for The Kooks at the Glasgow ABC, Manchester Ritz, Electric Ballroom and Birmingham Institute.
