The Jam’s back catalogue to be re-released on 30th anniversary of split

jamsqTo mark the 30th anniversary of The Jam‘s unexpected split, the band’s six-album back catalogue will be re-released next month.

An expanded version of their final record ‘The Gift‘ is due for release next week, and now a special box-set featuring the original version of that LP along with its predecessors ‘In The City‘, ‘This Is The Modern World‘, ‘All Mod Cons‘, ‘Setting Sons‘ and ‘Sound Affects‘, packaged in individual vinyl-replica CDs with rigid slipcases, will be available from December 3rd.

The Jam’s surprise break-up arrived towards the end of 1982 with the trio at the height of their powers having just secured a UK number one album and single chart toppers with ‘Beat Surrender‘ and ‘Town Called Malice‘/’Precious‘.

Weller’s expanding songwriting, a prominent feature of The Jam’s final studio record, was the main driving force behind his decision to disband the group and more thoroughly pursue a different path with his new collective The Style Council, who would release their own full debut just over a year later.
